I enjoy visual communication and condensing information into symbols of high information to ink ratio.
I read an interesting quote in one of Luke Wroblewski's book which I abide by:
"What doesn't add value, subtracts value!"

Logo & Branding

IHAA seeks to be a community of respect and friendship in which persons from many different countries, cultures, religions, political perspectives, and vocational interests may learn from one another through residential living.
The Logo shows two members of IHAA (erswhile ECIR) welcoming another person into their community. Baskerville font conveys the history, and responsible nature of the organization. The Maize and Blue colors denote the strong association of the community with the University of Michigan. Hopefully all three minds will learn to tolerate their differences and become maize after a while. Then it will be time to welcome another person.

The client, School of Information at UMich needed some badges or emblems for marketing.

  • Data Scientists fish in a sea of data for insights. The hook is the summation symbol, sigma because I couldn't think of a any statistics without some summation somewhere.
  • The double helical DNA, in my opinion, is the best possible organization of information.
  • I try to show how Social media is making the world a much smaller place. Three (trinity) is an important number to me for many reasons I won't go into at the moment.
